ThreatMetrix’s TrustDefender™ Cybercrime Protection Platform is even more formidable with enhancements that include:
• Honeypot-based malware detection techniques
• Next generation patented-page fingerprinting techniques that detect man-in-the-browser malware-based attacks
• Real-time transaction scoring based on threat analytics
One innovation to the TrustDefender™ Cybercrime Protection Platform is “honeypot detection”, a trap set to detect unauthorized webpage modification in the browser. Using a non-signature-based method, this malware detection is cloud-based with zero client footprint; customer protection is universal and deployment effort minimized.
The Honeypot technique makes it appear to malware that a user is navigating to the type of high value websites malware generally targets. As the malware attempts to attack a user by injecting new forms in the web page, the ThreatMetrix solution detects those changes in real-time. And, unlike traditional signature-based malware detection, ThreatMetrix’s solution uses whitelisting to ensure protection against current and future malware strains.
To create the largest, most effective honeypot available today, ThreatMetrix:
• Directly integrated honeypot-based malware detection with device identification making it immediately accessible to 1,900 customers
• Instantly delivered this cloud-based malware detection to billions of devices that are part of the ThreatMetrix™ Global Trust Intelligence Network (The Network).
• Provided real-time threat detection intelligence for assessing risk associated with real-time transactions
Unlike the competition, the TrustDefender Cybercrime Protection Platform is able to alert a business when a site visitor has a compromised device. In addition, it can determine whether the malware is targeting the site that’s being visited. This threat information is processed as part of the risk assessment that enables a business to take the appropriate action and protect itself from account takeover, payment fraud and identity spoofing.
“ThreatMetrix customers now have the ability to detect new strains of malware in real-time while seamlessly integrating with ThreatMetrix’s advanced device identification capabilities,” said Andreas Baumhof, chief technology officer, ThreatMetrix. “With these new capabilities, ThreatMetrix will provide the largest honeypot for detecting malware via The Network, which screens more than 500 million transactions every month, across more than 1,900 customers and 9,000 websites worldwide.”
These latest enhancements follow on the heels of the recently announced ThreatMetrix™ Summer 2013 Release, an extension to the company’s TrustDefender Cybercrime Protection Platform.
The Summer 2013 Release delivers innovative features such as Trust Tags and a global policy engine. These combat cybercrime through a comprehensive solution that’s built around The Network. Utilizing the Summer 2013 release, businesses are able to analyze and validate users through Persona ID in real-time. Covering both browsers and mobile apps, the Summer 2013 release makes it possible to combat sophisticated online cybercrime threats including payment and money transfer fraud, account takeover, and the use of false identities.
ThreatMetrix is the fastest-growing provider of integrated web fraud and cybersecurity solutions. The TrustDefender™ Cybercrime Protection Platform helps companies prevent unauthorized access to web and mobile applications, protect sensitive data, and secure transactions against account takeover, payment fraud, identity spoofing, malware, and data breaches.
