Device Identification Market and Technology Leader Chosen in Security Vendor Category
LOS ALTOS, CA–December 10, 2009–ThreatMetrix, the market and technology leader in device identification for preventing online fraud, today announced it’s won a 2009 Emerging Technology Award from the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal. ThreatMetrix was selected as the winner in the security category following a comprehensive review of vendors and products by the publication’s editors. ThreatMetrix was presented with the award at an event on December 3 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View.
“The award validates device identification as a key technology for preventing online fraud. It also recognizes the strides we’ve made as a company since launching in the US at the end of last year,” said Reed Taussig, CEO at ThreatMetrix. “Since December ’08 we’ve added 60 customers and the pipeline is full with new business opportunities. We’re excited to receive the Emerging Technology Award and we’re grateful to the editors at the Silicon Valley Business Journal for acknowledging our accomplishments.”
ThreatMetrix device identification solutions profile the computers used in online transactions to determine which customers are legitimate and which are fraudsters. ThreatMetrix’ cloud-based solutions are used by many leading social networking sites, online merchants and financial services firms including Name.com, Ebates and Date.com.
The Emerging Technology Awards are now in their fourth year. To choose the winners, the Business Journal takes nominations from outside sources and also does its own research to find what it considers to be ground-breaking and potentially disruptive technology. Its criteria includes the potential viability of the companies, the newness and usefulness of the technology, and the “wow” factor that clearly sets something apart.
